Acorn Autism is looking for fun, responsible, and dedicated individuals to work as a Therapy Technician with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Job Description: Part-time or full-time available.
You will work as a valued member of a multidisciplinary team that includes a Board Certified Behaviour Consultant, an Occupational Therapist, and a Speech and Language Pathologist. You will receive initial and ongoing training and development from all clinicians on your team.
You will implement individualised programmes at Acorn Autism where goals work on skill-acquisition and behaviour-reduction. You will take data on each programme to support clinicians developing and overseeing the programmes.
You will need to be responsible, have a positive attitude, be energetic and enthusiastic, have patience, and be a fast thinker. It is also important for you to have strong play, multitasking, organisation, and communicative skills with a variety of ages. You will need to be able to take constructive feedback well and implement it immediately.
There is the option for Acorn Autism to support you to complete Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) training, to become eligible to complete the competency assessment and register with the International Behaviour Certification Board as an RBT.
University Entrance or equivalent.
Enrolment in, or a degree from a post secondary program of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Special Education, or another related field is an asset, but not a requirement.
Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training or workshops is an asset, but not a requirement.
Knowledge in Applied Behaviour Analysis, discrete trial training, natural environment training is an asset, but not a requirement.
Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities.
Clearance from a criminal record check
NZ permanent residency/citizenship or valid NZ work visa
Consistent availability for extended periods of time e.g. 1st semester availability every Tuesday 9-2pm and Wednesday- Friday 12-6pm.
